TRAIN services in Portsmouth going in and out of London are facing delays due to signal failure.

The Waterloo to Portsmouth South West Trains service, which goes via Guildford, is being diverted and passengers can expect a half-hour delay in both directions.

The problem has been caused as a result of a signalling problem.

The delays are expected to last until 9pm tonight.

A spokeswoman for South West Trains said: ‘A number of our services have been disrupted today as a result of a signalling problem between Hersham and Weybridge.

‘We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused by these delays and would like to thank our customers for their patience as Network Rail engineers work to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.’
