TRAINS were temporarily brought to a standstill after a vehicle struck a railway bridge.

The vehicle was travelling along Cow Lane, Wymering, which runs underneath the south coast line that goes through Cosham, when it hit the structure.

The incident happened just before 11.30am this morning.

Trains were stopped for half an hour while an assessment of the situation was carried out.

Normal services resumed half an hour later.

A Network Rail spokesman said: ‘There was a bridge strike at Cow Lane just before 11.30am this morning.’
