Train journeys in and out of Portsmouth have been delayed after what officials are describing as a ‘trespass incident’.

National Rail says a trespasser is causing disruption near Fratton.

Because of this, there are delays of up to 50 minutes to and from Portsmouth.

The delays are expected to continue until around 2.30pm.

A spokeswoman for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance said: ‘Services were disrupted this morning as a result of a trespass incident near Fratton at around 11.10am which caused delays to trains going to and from Portsmouth.

‘Services were restored at around 11.45am and are now returning to normal.

‘We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.’
