Rescuers tow 40ft sailing yacht to safety after engine failure

All lines in the Southampton area will be closed all day tomorrow and Sunday. Stopping services between Portsmouth and Southampton will terminate and start from St Denys.

Replacement bus services will run for many services.

Tomorrow and on Sunday, services will be diverted between Romsey and Fareham and will be unable to call at Southampton Central. The diverted train services will call additionally at Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh.

Customers travelling to and from Southampton Central are advised to travel to Eastleigh by replacement bus service.

The 6.23pm service from Portsmouth Harbour to Newport will be extended to Cardiff Central arriving at 9.43pm.

Arundel Street will be closed to westbound traffic between Monday, January 17 and Friday, February 25.

Buses operating towards Gunwharf Quays will be diverted from St Mary’s Road via Fratton Road, Lake Road and Holbrook Road to resume theor normal route at the Asda roundabout.

Route 23 will be diverted until March 17 due to roadworks at the Winston Churchill Avenue roundabout preventing traffic from turning right. Journeys on Route 23 and the Hoverbus towards Southsea will turn left at the roundabout before making a U-turn at the Bradford Junction roundabout and resuming their normal route.



Due to gas repairs, Arundel Street will be closed to services from Fratton Road to Holbrook Road from January 17 until further notice.

Service 14 to the city centre will follow the normal route to Fratton Bridge roundabout, then divert via the second exit onto Victoria Road, Bradford Junction roundabout and Holbrook Road to the next roundabout, then take the first exit into Arundel Street to resume the normal route.
