TWO pedestrians were hurt after being clipped by a car as they crossed the road.

Police are now hunting the driver of the white van who failed to stop and ask if the pair were alright.

The hit-and-run happened at about 10.20pm on Wednesday as a 23-year-old man and 16-year-old girl were crossing Tidworth Road, Leigh Park.

The man’s bicycle, which he was pushing, was struck on the back wheel, causing both of them to fall over.

They suffered scratches and cuts and were treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.

The small van is believed to have been driven by a man in his 20s.

PC Steve Wootton, from Fratton Roads Policing Unit, said: ‘I am looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident and can give further information about the vehicle involved.’

Anyone with information should contact the roads policing unit on 101.
