MOTORISTS face delays of up to an hour getting out of Gosport this morning after a car crashed into a railway bridge.
The incident near the Quay Street roundabout in Fareham just after 8am today has caused major disruption to journeys around the network.
South West Trains has confirmed a car has struck the railway bridge and trains are running at reduced speeds as a result.
Hampshire’s road traffic team say traffic is very slow moving northbound on Newgate Lane from Gosport to Fareham.
Motorists are being warned to avoid the area ‘if possible’.
Police say a motorbike was also involved in the incident, but no-one has been hurt.
The incident resulted in the the first lane at the roundabout being blocked. All lanes have now re-opened but heavy congestion remains.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed the service received a call at 7.30pm about the incident but an ambulance was not required.
