A man was killed after he was hit by a train this morning at Portchester railway station.
The incident took place shortly after 8am at the station in Hill Road.
The station was closed and reopened at 12.30pm, however trains starting running along the line at 10.45am.
A spokesman for British Transport Police, who are dealing with the incident, said: ‘Officers were called to the line at Portchester station at 8.11am following reports that a person had been hit by a train.
‘Officers attended along with colleagues from Hampshire police and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘The man’s death is being considered non-suspicious and officers are working to establish his identity and inform his family.
‘A file will be prepared for the coroner.’
Major disruption to rail services running through the station will last until at least 1pm, with delays of up to one hour predicted.
Train services affected include Great Western Railway, South West Trains and Southern.
There are buses running between Eastleigh and Fratton.

Today’s fatality is the latest tragedy to strike the station this year.
The 69-year-old pensioner was from the village and died on January 8.
At the time, transport police said the death was not suspicious.
