DRIVERS faced lengthy delays travelling on the M27 tonight following a road collision.

Two lanes on the eastbound carriageway were closed around 4.30pm this evening between junctions 11 off Fareham and 12 off Port Solent following an incident involving a car and a van.

One motorist was taken by South Central Ambulance Service to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, to be treated for injuries.

Queues stretched back to junction 8 near Bursledon due to heavy congestion.

Hampshire’s real-time traffic information system reported the lanes had re-opened around 6pm.

Delays of up to half an hour remained in place between junctions eight and 12 for a short time, but roads began to clear from 7pm.
