A CAR caught fire following a three-vehicle crash during rush-hour.

Police were called at 7.26am after a red Royal Mail van, a silver Vauxhall Astra and a Ford Transit panel van collided outside Cowdray outside Cowdray House in Arundel Street, Landport, Portsmouth.

Fire crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to tackle a blaze after one of the vehicle caught fire. It is not yet known which one.

The road was blocked for just under an hour and traffic was diverted through Railway View and Landport Street while emergency services worked at the scene.

Ambulance crews were called out but police said no-one was injured.

The road was re-opened at 8.24am.
