A FERRY crew have rescued two people whose boat capsized in the Solent this afternoon.

The team from Wightlink Ferry’s Wight Sky rushed to the aid of the man and the woman in a rescue boat, after the pair’s angling boat capsized and began sinking.

They were spotted by a member of the ferry crew at about 1.30pm near Yarmouth.

People have since taken to social media to praise the Wightlink crew for their ‘professional, swift and diligent’ actions.

The casualties, both aged in their 40s were cold but uninjured according to Wightlink, who confirmed the pair had been taken to hospital by ambulance after being brought ashore by the ferry.

The 16ft sinking boat was recovered by an RNLI team from Yarmouth.
