WITNESSES are being sought after a toddler was knocked down by a car.

The accident happened at about 3.30pm on Friday in Alexandra Road, Landport, close to the Lake Road junction.

PC Duncan Inness, who is investigating, said: ‘What appears to have happened is the two-year-old boy has crossed in front of his mother, thinking it was safe to cross, unfortunately into the path of a 50-year-old female driving a Citroen C3. Unfortunately there was a collision between the vehicle and the child.’

The toddler was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital with facial injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.
