A WOMAN suffered suspected spinal injuries in a two-car crash.

About 12 firefighters from Cosham were called out after a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Astra collided at the London Road Junction with Lily Avenue in Widley shortly before 1pm today.

Firefighters cut the roof from the Ford Fiesta after a woman backseat passenger sustained possible spinal injuries.

The road was shut while the crews worked at the scene.

No-one else was injured.

Watch manager Kevin Lloyd-Spencer said: ‘We had to remove the roof to make it easier for the ambulance to get to her.

‘We had the road temporarily closed while we carried out the rescue.’
