A WOMAN was taken to hospital after her car ploughed into a garage wall.

The woman – thought to be in her 70s – was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, after hitting the garage, which had a vintage car inside, at about 6pm yesterday.

The incident happened in the car park at the Harbour Veterinary Hospital in London Road, North End, Portsmouth, which backs on to Wadham Road.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘One female in her 70s was taken to hospital via ambulance.

‘We do not have any details on her injuries.’

Three fire engines from Cosham fire station were called and crews made the scene safe.

Also damaged in the incident was a Vauxhall Cresta PA dating from 1959.

Owner Janet Crouch, 69, of Wadham Road, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it when I was told what had happened.

‘My brother had been working on it for years to restore it and we were due to get its MoT done next week.

‘But I do hope the woman taken to hospital is alright.’

Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
