A PENSIONER is in a stable condition in hospital after her car left the road and crashed into a tree in Petersfield.

The 66-year-old woman, who was driving a Volkswagen Polo, suffered what police described as life-threatening injuries following the incident at Tilmore Gardens at 1.50pm on Sunday.

The road was closed off for two hours while emergency services were at the scene.

The woman was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, where she remains in a stable condition. A police spokesman said: ‘The cause of the collision is under investigation.’

Witness should call 101.
