A TEENAGER was recovering in hospital today after becoming trapped underneath a minibus.

The 18-year-old, from Portsmouth, was injured after she was hit by the vehicle outside Gunwharf Quays shopping centre in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police were called to the incident at 2.23am and dispatched two patrol cars.

By the time they arrived the woman had freed herself from under the white Ford minibus taxi.

She was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, with injuries to her head and hip which were described as serious but not life-threatening. Witnesses to the collision are asked to call PC Adam Jackson at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
