A WOMAN was trapped on a cruise ship balcony off Gosport.

Solent Coastguard said the woman was on the Fred Olsen cruise ship Braemar when she locked herself out of her cabin on the balcony.

She called 999 and the coastguard got in touch with the ship’s bridge, while the 485-cabin ship was off Fort Gilkicker, Stokes Bay.

A member of staff on the 24,344-tonne ship was dispatched to unlock the door and let her back in.

A spokesman said: ‘It was quick and sweet, and interesting – and quite unique.’

It happened at around 9pm last night after the ship set sail from Southampton.
