DRIVERS are being asked to avoid sections of Eastern Road, Portsmouth, this week as resurfacing work takes place.

The roadworks, carried out by contractor Colas on behalf of Portsmouth City Council, will start tonight and go on until Saturday.

A section of Eastern Road, from Anchorage Road to Farlington roundabout, will be closed to northbound traffic from 8pm tonight to 5.30am tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow northbound lanes on Eastern Road will be reduced and the section from Airport Service Road to Tangier Road will be closed to southbound traffic.

For the remaining duration of the works – Wednesday to Saturday – there will be reduced lanes northbound and southbound traffic will not able to use Eastern Road from Burrfields Road to Swordsands Road.

Diversions will be in place.
