Two Hampshire restaurants given awards in the Michelin Guide 2019

Two Hampshire restaurants have been given the prestigious Bib Gourmand award in the latest Michelin Guide.

The Crown Inn in Upton, near Andover, has been named for the first time, and Pulpo Negro in Alresford is also included.

Bib Gourmands are given out to restaurants which offer '˜exceptionally good food at moderate prices'.

They should also offer menu items priced below a maximum, which is determined by the area they are in.

The Crown Inn has a Sunday-only dining experience with brunches and comforting favourites. 

Pulpo Negro offers a variety of tapas options to diners.

There are 27 new Bib Gourmands on this year's list, and 143 in total from across the UK and Ireland.  

Rebecca Burr, Director of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland, said: '˜Prices and value for money are important, but the Bib Gourmand is about much more; it's about the ethos and philosophy of a restaurant.
