Uninsured Southampton driver fined after being stopped in Havant

Government sells off HMS Ocean for £84m

A man who was caught driving without any insurance has been ordered to pay £690.

David Wells was stopped by the police as he drove a Renault Laguna in Nursery Road, Havant.

A police check revealed he was not insured to drive the car.

Wells, 36, was due to appear at Fareham Magistrates' Court in October but he failed to show up.

The magistrates found him guilty of driving without any insurance and failing to appear at court in his absence.

When Wells, of Oakley Road, Southampton, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court for sentencing he was given two weeks to pay a 475 fine and 215 in costs.
