University bus evacuated after floor '˜covered in blood'

STUDENTS were evacuated from a bus in Southsea after a woman hit her head in a '˜medical incident'.

An ambulance rushed to the incident at around 6.30pm in Fratton Road to a report of a woman falling while on the University of Portsmouth bus.

It happened at the stop between Selbourne Terrace and the Goldsmith Avenue, in Southsea.

A student, who asked not to be named, said all passengers were evacuated from the bus.

He told The News: ‘We were just evacuated from the uni bus.

‘The whole floor was covered in blood.

‘It was absolutely shocking.’

He added: ‘There was blood everywhere and a girl on the floor.

‘They have told us to leave the bus immediately.’

The woman has been taken to hospital, a spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said.

He added: ‘It was a medical emergency on a bus.

‘The bus driver got everybody off the bus.

‘It involved a lot of blood.’
