A video of the entire match plus photographs have been sent to Guinness World Records as evidence. Cricket club president Jack Maciver said: ‘The record attempt went really well, and we received good support throughout the attempt.

‘We were delighted that we managed to play for so long - hopefully it won’t be too long before we’re declared the new record-holders.’

The match was raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Jack added: ‘It’s a great cause and means a lot to a couple of our members, as it has helped people close to them.’

The record attempt was held at the university’s Spinnaker Sports Centre.
