UPDATE: A27 slip road reopens after crash causes major jams in Portsmouth

Traffic jams built up in Portsmouth after a morning rush-hour crash on the westbound slip road from the A27 into the city today.

Two fire engines were called to the scene as well as paramedics and police.

A badly-damaged car was at the scene. It was not immediately clear whether oiher vehicles had been involved.

Queues backed up to the A3m junction at Bedhampton and the accident caused big delays for drivers trying to get into Portsmouth.

Traffic built up as they were forced to drive on to the M275 to get into the city.

The slip road was reopened just before 10.30am.
