The A280 Long Furlong has now reopened following a fatal crash yesterday evening, August 25.

The road had been closed in both directions after a 20-year-old man died at the scene following a head-on-collision, Sussex Police confirmed.

The crash happened at around 6.30pm at the Findon end of the road.

Another driver was taken to Worthing hospital with potentially-serious injuries.

According to police, a silver Vauxhall car and blue Ford Fiesta collided.

The 20-year-old man was driving the Ford. The Vauxhall driver was taken to Worthing Hospital.

The road is currently the main diversion route for traffic travelling to and from the west of Worthing after the stretch of A27 at Shoreham was closed following Saturday’s plane crash.

The A280 Long Furlong was reopened at around midnight, though delays are still expected at rush-hour this morning.
