A MAN had to be cut free from his car after a crash on the M27.
Motorists faced long delays on the motorway after the accident, which happened at 2.30pm today.
The crash happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 9 (Whiteley) and junction 10 (Wickham).
A car overturned and one man had to be cut out by firefighters.
Two lanes were closed and delays stretched back past junction 11 (Fareham).
Firefighters from Cosham, Fareham and High Town were involved in the rescue and remain there to help with the clear-up.
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘We were called at 2.27pm to a road traffic collision on the M27 near junction 10 westbound in lane three of the motorway.
‘One casualty was trapped and he was extricated by firefighters by 3.11pm.’
A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said that two ambulances were sent.
He said one car, with two occupants, had crashed into the central reservation during the incident, and the other occupant had got out without assistance.
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 2.27pm to a one vehicle collision, into the central reservation.
‘One person was inside and was extricated by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
‘He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital but his injuries are believed to be minor. All lanes are open now.’
