Route 700 is subject to delays due to a road traffic accident at Emsworth.

South West Trains said services between Fareham and Eastleigh have been suspended.

Lindsay Reid, spokeswoman for South West Trains, said: ‘There is currently a signalling problem caused by the weather conditions between Eastleigh and Fareham.

‘As a result we are operating a shuttle train between those locations – this is using a diesel train rather than an electric train, so is less reliant on the electricity supply from the track.

‘The shuttle train is also calling at Hedge End and Botley.

‘This means passengers travelling from the Eastleigh area to Portsmouth Harbour will have to change trains at Fareham.

‘A small number of services have been cancelled as a result of this issue.

‘We are working to restore the full timetabled service as soon as possible.’

Train routes in and out of Portsmouth are running with a revised service.

Commuters are being told to check train websites to find out the latest.
