Drivers on the A3 faced severe disruption this morning after a signals problem forced the closure of the Hindhead Tunnel in both directions.

Traffic managers said the tunnel had been closed because of faulty signals. Traffic was diverting through Bordon, with delays of 15-20 minutes.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

At 8am, reports said that one lane of the tunnel in both directions had reopened, but traffic remained heavy.
