Drivers faced delays on the M27 today - because of a boat in the carriageway.

Emergency services were called shortly after 8am after a lifeboat fell off a trailer near the slip road at Junction 7.

Traffic managers said the incident caused 40 minute delays for westbound drivers between Junctions 9 and 7, Segensworth to Hedge End.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said police were called at just after 8.15am and that the boat had been cleared by 8.30am.

Traffic is now moving as normal on the route.
