Police have appealed for witnesses after a man died in a crash in Funtington.

The driver, who has not yet been named, died at the scene.

Another man is in hospital with serious injuries following the collision between a red Seat Leon and a blue Peugeot 406 in Common Road, Funtington, in the early hours of this morning.

Police said the driver of the Seat, a 42-year-old man from Fishbourne, died in the crash.

A 67-year-old man from Chichester, who was driving the Peugeot, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with multiple serious injuries.

He was described by police as being in a serious, but stable condition this morning.

The road was completely blocked by the collision, and was only reopened at 5.30am.
