Upgrade for control tower

COUNCILLORS have approved a £580k revamp of a control tower and an aiport's fuelling facilities.

The upgrades at Solent Airport at Daedalus in Lee-on-the-Solent were backed unanimously by councillors at a meeting of Fareham Borough Council’s executive on Monday.

It will involve a revamp of the tower’s open-plan seating area in addition to new toilets, refurbishment of the ground floor with a new heating facility and enlarged car park. In addition to this, the local authority will look to install fuel pumps to boost fuelling supplies. Councillor Chris Wood said: ‘Investing in important pieces of infrastructure such as the control tower and fuelling arrangements is further proof of our commitment to Daedalus.’
