Veterinary clinic opens its doors at new Portsmouth retail park

PET owners can have more choice in where they treat their animals with the opening of a new vetinary practice.

The Vet has opened its doors at Portsmouth Retail Park, near North Harbour, and is encouraging customers to take a look around.

The branch is the ninth opened by the firm which has clinics all over the country.

Chief executive Jessica Frame said she was excited at bringing their services to Portsmouth and the new retail park.

'˜What's really exciting about the south coast is it has a different offering,' she said.

'˜We thought there was an opportunity to bring something else to pet owners.

'˜It is also really exciting to be in this new space and part of this new development.'

The Vet offers a range of services for animals from X-rays, vaccinations, nail clipping, flea and worm treatment and it has two operating theatres.

It also offers walk-in clinics four times a week on Monday and Wednesday to Friday between 8am and 11am for registered patients. Non-registered patients can sign up when they arrive.

The branch is also open until 9pm on Mondays and over the weekend.

Jessica added: '˜We are a group of pet owners, vets and nurses that came together because we believed we could do it differently and better.

'˜Our main purpose is to make it easier for pet owners to care for their animals.

'˜We understand people work which is why we open at 8am, have the drop-in clinics and are open late and on weekends.

'˜We also know that if you wake up and your pet is feeling ill, you don't want to wait two weeks for an appointment. That is why we have the walk-in clinic for people to come and get seen as soon as they can.

'˜There hasn't been a lot of innovation in the way veterinary clinics run, that is what we hope to change.'

Jessica said their price is another element that makes them stand out from other vets in the area.

They aim to be 20 per cent cheaper than elsewhere and have a price guarantee to match any other costs.

She said: '˜We want to take away the worry of what it will cost. People worry because vets can be so expensive and we didn't want to be like that.'
