Video - Offbeat: School send teddy into space and find him 18 miles away being shredded by tractor

A toy bear launched into space by prep schoolchildren came back to earth 18 miles away and survived a close encounter with a combine harvester.

The youngsters were disappointed when they sent Major William Wilberforce on his adventure and his tracking device malfunctioned and they lost him.

He was found a month later by a farmer who clipped him with his machine in his field at Cottingham, nr Hull, East Yorks.

And although his GPS failed the camera which filmed his journey survived so the children at Pocklington Prep will be able to watch every second of his epic flight.

The school posted on its Facebook page: “Our brave space teddy Major William has finally been found!”
