Video - Offbeat: Staff at West Midland Safari Park are celebrating the birth of two Rothschild's giraffes
This is the extraordinary moment a rare baby giraffe was filmed being born '“ before struggling to its feet with the help of its proud mother.
The female giraffe arrived on Sunday (4/9) to five-year-old mum Akacia and was up and about just 20 minutes later.
Dramatic footage was released by West Midlands Safari Park yesterday (Thurs) showing the moment it was born.Akacia can be seen standing close to another giraffe as her baby is born head first onto the straw-covered floor.
The mother and another giraffe then take turns to lick the baby clean of the amniotic fluid before the youngster is encouraged to stand on its own two feet.
