View of 1920s' Cosham

This photograph was sent in by Alan Rockford of Laurus Close, Waterlooville. He thinks it was taken in the 1920s.

It is looking down into Cosham from London Road before Northern Road was constructed.

That road diverted traffic away from the village, as the community was then.

Coming in from the left is Havant Road and in those far off days to get to Portchester or farther afield, traffic turned left from Havant Road and passed through the village.

It then turned right on to the A27 and then westbound to continue on you journey.

The part where you turned right is now Wayte Street and Medina Road. When the new Southampton Road was built the end of Medina Road became a cul-de-sac.

I cannot think of a
single building in the photograph that is still standing.
