VILLAGERS remain on amber alert over the threat of groundwater flooding.

Groundwater has risen significantly in the Rowlands Castle area and is reported to be rising about 1ft a day in some locations.

Steve Protheroe, Flood Action Group chairman, believes the Idsworth lavant will rise very soon, but said no sand bags were required in the immediate future as long as the Chalton lavant does not rise.

He said one portaloo may be required for Finchdean Road.

Villagers are in close contact with the police in case the situation changes.
