Cllr Richard Hitchcock, chairman of Westbourne Parish Council, said: ‘I would like to thank everyone who gave up a couple of hours of their Sunday to come and help us clean up the village.

‘Our spring clean day is a great opportunity to meet other people, and to contribute towards making the village a place we are even prouder to live in.

‘Sitting round and enjoying well-earned refreshments at the end of the afternoon represented an excellent opportunity for villagers to discuss various issues of concern, and to reflect on what else they might have done if people would only learn to dispose of their litter more appropriately.’

Cllr Hitchcock said the spring clean was the most successful they had had.
