VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help a charity supporting families with young children.

Home-Start Meon Valley is asking people with professional skills to step forward and be volunteer trustees.

The charity helps families with children under five.

Volunteers will be asked to support parents who may be finding it hard to cope because of bereavement, or a multiple birth or due to the disability or illness of themselves or a child.

In return for volunteering for up to 10 hours a month, trustees will be able to enhance their own skills, knowledge, self-confidence and professional networks.

The group also runs a weekly family group where parents can have a cup of tea and a chat, while their children can play.

The group has been running for 13 years and last year 39 volunteers supported 64 families.
