Volunteering their time to help others is what two men are all about.

Malcolm Dent and Ken Eckersley are this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winners for the work they do on behalf of the Gosport Rotary Club.

Both men, from Gosport, have been a part of the club for many years and have been helping share the good work the club does.

Recently, Malcolm’s hard work was honoured with the Paul Harris Fellowship, which is awarded to people who go about and beyond.

The 66-year-old says: ‘It was a real honour to win the fellowship and I had no idea. It was a really nice surprise and something I wasn’t expecting.’

Malcolm was handed the fellowship by the new president of the club Ken, who also spends his time volunteering.

Together, along with other members of the Gosport Rotary, the pair raise money for groups and charities in the area as well as taking part in national events held by rotary clubs throughout the country.

Ken adds: ‘Malcolm has done a great job in ensuring people know who we are and what we get up to.

‘He is brilliant at keeping our website up to date and our Facebook page is full of information.

‘It is because of his hard work that we thought to give him the Paul Harris Fellowship.’

The pair also carry out charity work in other countries and have visited Albania as part of a project set up by fellow Rotarian Adrian Edgar. They visited the country to see how the club’s money had been spent and how they can help them in the future.

Malcolm added: ‘We do so much in Gosport and we try to help as many groups as we can.’
