Wallington villagers are out in force for Great British Spring Clean

A CAR seat, numerous other large items and 58 sacks of rubbish were collected as part of the Great British Spring Clean in Wallington, near Fareham.

More than 30 people, including 26 members of the 2nd Fareham Sea Scouts, were kitted out with high-vis vests, gloves, litter pickers and bags, provided by Fareham Borough Council as they worked around Broadcut, the water meadows and Standard Way.

The clean-up was organised by the Wallington Village Community Association and the young people.

Charlie Scott, chair of the Wallington environment sub-committee, which ran the event, said: ‘Everybody worked hard to try to improve our village. We hope people will take notice and not drop litter or leave their rubbish the future.

‘We’re very thankful to the Sea Scouts and youngsters from the village together with their parents.’
