FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning to people making hoax calls to the service.

It comes after a malicious 999 call was made at 8.30pm on Friday.

One crew from Southsea were called to Commercial Road, outside the Debenhams store, but on arrival found there was no sign of a fire.

Acting crew manager Dave Bird-Newell said: ‘We want to remind people not to make malicious calls as this could take us away from a real emergency.’
