A COUNCILLOR has warned people to stay away from a building destroyed by a fire.

Councillor Marcus Murphy, ward member for Rowner and Holbrook, at Gosport Borough Council said he has concerns over the fire at the former Royal Sailors Rest, in Grange Lane.

He said: ‘I’m not condoning anything, but especially for younger children, if they see older children going in there... and they follow them, that’s when the tragedies happen.’

As reported, 56 firefighters tackled the blaze from 5.30pm to 9.50pm on Sunday.
