DRAMATIC footage has shown the moment the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent found a missing man.

The crew was tasked with locating the man who had been walking on the Isle of Wight over the weekend and had gone missing.

The video from the helicopter shows the moment the crew spot the man who can be seen lying on a ledge.

The footage starts off from far away and the man is a small spot but zooms in clearly to where he is on the ground.

Hampshire police​ had requested the Coastguard’s assistance to find him after he’d been reported missing from his afternoon walk.

Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team​s, Bembridge RNLI​ Lifeboat and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent joined the search. Just before 5am the missing man was located on a ledge 20ft above Monk’s Bay by the helicopter.

The paramedic winchman was lowered to the casualty and he was winched onboard.

He was suffering from hypothermia and was transferred to St Mary’s Hospital, on the Isle of Wight.
