There have also been alerts posted for the South Hayling sea front, the Isle of Wight and Emsworth.
An alert for high winds this afternoon was also issued for Portsmouth.
It comes after a ‘supermoon’ was spotted at the weekend, which experts warned could lead to higher tides because of its size.
At Southsea today, the 1pm peak time passed without serious incident.
There were few people to be seen on the seafront as waves crashed onto the promenade.
The seafront road remained open.
