Video shows workmen repairing crash barriers on the M27 today after a lorry overturned.

The accident on the eastbound approach to Portsmouth caused huge tailbacks.

This afternoon the middle and outside lane remained closed while workmen carried out repairs.

A car passenger who filmed the scene said: ‘The traffic was moving but was stop-start all the way from junction 10, past Fareham and up to where the lane closures were by the Cosham turn-off.

‘As we were in the queue we saw the highways workers go past us on the hard shoulder, and by the time we reached the accident site they were working on the central reservation. It looked as if they were repairing the barrier, rather than the road itself.”
