Waterlooville nativity will have a modern twist

I'm so excited about the Community Coffee Cup Pop-up Nativity here in Cowplain in the run-up to Christmas. 

It's a fun way for people of all ages to escape the busyness of the pre-Christmas  preparations and be part of the story of the very first Christmas.

There will be a purpose-built wooden stable and crib, which has been designed and  created by Waterlooville Men's shed, outside Westbrook Hall in Tempest Avenue '“ the home of our Community Coffee Cup.

There will be rails of child and adult-sized costumes for all of the Nativity characters '“ Mary, Joseph, the innkeeper, shepherds, kings, angels '“ to dress up in. Once you've chosen which character you want to be you can then step into the stable with your family and friends to create the Nativity scene.

It'll be a bit like a photo booth so you might like to take a picture on your Smartphone or camera to share with family and friends this Christmas.

It's the first time we've done something like this but if it's popular we'd love to make it part of our Christmas celebrations every year.

For us, it's a way of bringing the story of Jesus's birth to life in an imaginative way.

The Pop-up Nativity will be open between 10am and midday tomorrow and Saturday, December 22. 

There will be free drinks and mince pies for all to enjoy as well. Come along and enjoy the fun with your family and friends.

After the Pop-up Nativity has finished, we'll be taking the stable and crib to St Wilfrid's Church in Padnell Road where we will be using them to help tell the Nativity story at our Crib Service at 3pm on Christmas Eve.

And we'd love you to come and help us too! You're welcome to come dressed as a shepherd, angel, wise man, Mary or Joseph. And we'll have plenty of costumes available for you to dress up in too. 

We'd love everyone to be part of telling the story. Or you can join us on Christmas Day, from 10am, when we'll celebrate Jesus's birthday with a special celebration.
