We’re moving but still bringing you the news

Investigation over child abuse claims into former Bishop of Chichester was ‘wholly inadequate’

THE News is on the move!

As part of a review of all our office accommodation - which has already seen us swap our main HQ at The News Centre in Hilsea for 1000 Lakeside - we have been looking for a more suitable base for our staff in Gosport.

This process involved putting our High Street home on the market.

The good news is that we have found a buyer for our offices - which I believe is a shot in the arm for the confidence people still have in the town centre.

But with us handing over the keys today we are left with no permanent home in the town to move to. While we consider our future options we will be moving our Gosport operation just over the borough boundary to our sister office in Fareham. We may be moving out of the heart of the town - but our hearts still remain committed to providing all the best news, information and sport from the borough throughout the week in your very own Gosport edition

From Tuesday, January 8, Gosport reporter Ben Fishwick will be starting a weekly reporters’ surgery at Gosport Discovery Centre to give all readers the chance to pass on any stories, pictures, events or any other snippets of information which you think we should be including in the paper.

He will be there every Tuesday from 9am to 1pm. But if you can’t catch him then please call him on 01329 243004 or drop in to our Fareham office at 88 West Street.

We’re also pleased to announce that News Boutique, located at 70 High Street just down the road from our office, will continue some of the services currently on offer from The News office.

News Boutique will be a drop-off point for The News competition entries, letters and articles. Back issues of The News can also be ordered and collected from the shop and a selection of our popular local interest books and DVDs will be available to buy.

Wendy and Steve Knight from News Boutique said: ‘We look forward to carrying on the good work and continuing to welcome The News’ customers into our shop.’
