Weather set to brighten up for poll after another windy day

Have your say

STRONG winds continued to hit coastal areas across Hampshire.

Although not as bad as Tuesday, firefighters from Cosham were called to a house in Park Lane, Purbrook, after the wind began to blow and lift the roof.

Three trucks attended the scene at about 4pm yesterday and made the area safe.

The wind was expected to die down today, but then rise to 25mph on Saturday.

The brighter weather has been seen as a possible good sign for voter turnout in the general election today.

The Met Office’s Marco Petagna said: ‘There should be nothing to keep voters away.

‘Away from the north east we can’t
rule out an isolated shower, but it
looks like being dry with sunny spells at times.’
