Met Office issues yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Portsmouth and Hampshire

A WEATHER warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain has been issued for Portsmouth and other parts of Hampshire.

The yellow alert warns of ‘slow moving heavy showers and thunderstorms which may lead to disruption due to flooding’.

The Met Office alert also warns of difficult driving conditions with potential disruption to travel due to floodwater and even lightening strikes.

The warning comes into force at midday (June 18) and currently extends to 9pm. The heaviest period of rain is currently forecast to occur between midday and 3pm.
