North-south divide as UK splits after icy start
The cold snap this morning which has seen the east of England wake up to temperatures as low as minus 4C (24.8F) will give way to warmer temperatures in the south, rising to as much as 14C (57.2F) over the weekend
Met Office forecaster Charlie Powell: “During the weekend the UK will be split by a weather front with a north-south divide, although conditions will be similar across Saturday and Sunday.

Hide Ad“Wales and the Midlands and the South East should be mild, with temperatures peaking in London at 14C (57.2F).”
However, north of the divide temperatures are expected to be between 6C (42.8F) and 7C (44.6F) with a risk of rain and sleet on high ground.
The Met Office forecast for Portsmouth tomorrow is: ‘Mild and breezy during the day with some dry periods interspersed with spells of rain, these more likely during the afternoon. Winds strengthening again, especially along the exposed south coast. Maximum temperature 12C.’
