UPDATE: Roads blocked by fallen trees as Storm Doris hits Portsmouth

Drivers have faced delays on Hampshire's roads this afternoons after hind winds knocked down trees.

One lane was closed while a tree was removed from the M27 westbound near Whiteley, while a road was also blocked in Horndean.

Clarence Esplanade was closed to traffic this morning because of high winds in Portsmouth.

First Portsmouth tweeted that bus services were being diverted via Clarence Parade while the closure was in place.

A yellow weather warning remains in place across the south as Storm Doris continues to batter parts of the UK.

The Met Office issued the alert this morning, warning people across the region to expect strong winds throughout the day.

Gusts of 50-60mph were expected, forecasters have claimed, with the risk of 70mph on coasts and hills.

Travel services across the area have already been affected, with Hover Travel suspending its service across the Solent. Trains service have also been disrupted.

The Met Office added that as the storm intensifies further travel misery could impact ferry passengers, with possible delays on the horizon. Damage to trees and buildings is also possible, officials continued.

Heavy rain is also likely throughout the day.

The warning remains in force until 8pm tonight.
