Yellow alert issued as US superstorm heads for here

The remnants of Storm Jonas are expected to hit the south in the next couple of days.

And the Met Office has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday.

That means there could be severe or hazardous weather with the potential to cause danger to life or widespread disruption.

While there won’t be snow, it is going to get wet.

The warning says: ‘An area of rain will move southeastwards across southern England during Wednesday. Some locally heavy rainfall is possible and with this falling on saturated ground some localised flooding is possible. Southwesterly gales are likely along south coasts for a time.’
